Partwork Companion keeps track of partwork and staged model builds: which stages are done, which deliveries have arrived, what you have spent, and what went wrong along the way. It works entirely on your phone.

Getting started

Adding a build

Tap Add build on the Builds screen and search the library by model, publisher or scale. Choose the edition, how you are building (standard monthly, fast track, or a full kit), and where you are in the build. If your model is not in the library, choose Custom build and enter the stage and package counts yourself.

Builds you started before installing the app

On the last step of adding a build, choose On an earlier date and enter the day you actually started. Upcoming deliveries are then timed from that date rather than from today. You can change it later from the build's More screen.

Marking progress

Open a stage to set its status: Ready, Doing, Done, Blocked or Skip. Marking a stage done moves you straight on to the next one. The Build tab shows the whole board at a glance.

Deliveries

The Deliveries tab lists every package with its expected date. Mark a package received when it arrives, then check its contents; anything missing or damaged can be logged as a problem against that package. If all your packages are already on the shelf, use Mark all received.

Photos and colours

Add a photo to a build from its Overview screen. The app reads the photo's colours to give each build its own colour scheme. You can switch this off in Settings → Build colours from photos.

The free build and the unlock

Your first active build is free, with every feature, for as long as you like. A one-time purchase unlocks unlimited builds at once, full-size photos in the Build Book PDF, and cross-build statistics. There is no subscription. If you reinstall the app or change phones, use Settings → Restore purchase.

Backups, exports and moving phones

• Backup (Settings → Backup) writes a single file with all of your builds and photos. Keep it somewhere safe, such as a cloud drive.
• Restore from backup brings that file back onto a phone.
• Export a single build as a Build Book PDF, a CSV of stages and costs, or a restorable ZIP archive from the build's More screen.
• Your phone's own iCloud or computer backup also includes the app's data.

The model library

The library covers current and historical partworks from publishers such as Agora Models, DeAgostini, Eaglemoss, Fanhome, Hachette, IXO Collections, Pocher and Salvat. Details come from publishers' official catalogues and archives and are updated with app updates. Some entries are marked as still needing research; you can still add them and correct the counts yourself.

Missing model, or wrong details? Settings → Suggest a model opens an email with the fields we need. A link to the publisher's official page helps most.

Common questions

A delivery shows as overdue but it has not been dispatched yet

Open the delivery and use Snooze 7 days, or set the correct expected date. If your publisher's schedule is different from the plan, change the build's start date on the More screen and the remaining deliveries move with it.

I marked the wrong stage as done

Open the stage and tap Ready in the status row to reopen it.

The colours picked from my photo look wrong

Try a photo of the model against a plain background, or switch off Build colours from photos in Settings to use the standard colours.

How do I delete a build, or everything?

A build: its More screen → Delete build. Everything: delete the app. Nothing is stored anywhere else by the app.
